So it's been a couple months since I've updated this. (Though I have been posting artwork...one out of two, yeah!) Mainly though, there just isn't a ton to say that I don't cover on my blog, and I don't really feel like sharing every blog post here as that feels spammy for the lovely people who follow my art here. So a quick life update:

• Still making art. Duh. Though I am having a bit of a mental crisis about it in terms of finding meaning in my art. I like making pretty pictures, or I should say, I like making things that I think are pretty. Is that enough? Should there be more to it than that? Still working that out. I'm also still loving Copic markers, and finding technique with them.
• I have an art shop opening up on April 1st. Thinking of maybe having a Society6 shop as well. As for to buy here through DA, I'm undecided.
• I'm still homeschooling my five year old daughter. We do kindergarten homeschool and it's something I never really considered but am so glad I decided to do. However, in the fall, she will attend public school.
  
• I started running again. Sporadically; I still need to get back on a schedule with it.
  
• Spring has officially arrived, so of course, we are due to get snow on Thursday here in New Hampshire. Yaaaaay New England! Hopefully it'll melt off quick as I want to get gardening as soon as I can!

So that's about it really. Nothing too exciting. How's life treating you lately?

Anybody else struggle with the creative process sometimes? Making art is a passion, but it's often a labor of love. One of my all time favorite quotes, found in the novel House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski says this about passion:

"Passion has little to do with euphoria and everything to do with patience. It is not about feeling good. It is about endurance. Like patience, passion comes from the same Latin root: pati. It does not mean to flow with exuberance. It means to suffer."

While a little dark, I absolutely adore what this says about passion. Creation is a often a struggle, but one that's entirely worth it. Anyone else feel the same?

I wrote up a post about the creative process on my blog and how I'm hoping to work through some of my previous struggles this year. Keep making great art!

2016 is a year of big plans for me and my art. The main goal is to start selling my art online! Whether it's through a place like Society6 or here on DA, or even my own shop selling originals, I want to get something going. Also, I want to open up commissions again at least for part of the year. Commissions are always a mixed bag for me...sometimes they are wonderful, but sometimes people are a right pain in the ass. However I'll also be opening up commission for fandom work, so that'll be fun!

Good grief.

I'm finding it so incredibly hard to believe that I haven't posted a journal, or any art here since February. And also kind of sad. Because I've been making art all year. But somehow, my DA account just got left in the dust. I got really involved with my blog, and into sharing my art there, and ended up letting things slide. A lot. Like slide all the way off the cliff. But lately, I've really been missing an art community. So for anyone still watching me, thanks for that. There's plenty of art coming! I'm not planning on uploading my backlog all at once; I'll space it out over the next couple weeks, along with new stuff I'm working on.
